FRESNO, Calif. - In addition to being named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week and the national punt returner performer of the week by the College Football Performance Awards, Fresno State wide receiver and punt returner Isaiah Burse was announced on Wednesday as the SEVEN Magazine Las Vegas Bowl Mountain West Player of the Week.

Burse, a senior from Modesto, Calif., is a first-time recipient of the Las Vegas Bowl Mountain West Player of the Week award. The award, driven by fan vote, has recognized the exemplary on-field play within the two affiliated conferences for the Las Vegas Bowl (Pac-12/Mountain West) for the past three years.

The awards have rolled in for Burse following his three touchdowns scored against Cal Poly last Saturday at Bulldog Stadium. Last weekend's performance was highlighted by two first half punt returns that he took home for six. The first was a 61-yarder in the first quarter and he added a 58-yarder in the second. Burse joined Steve Smith from Utah in 1999 and Dallas Davis from Colorado State, also in 1999, as the only other players in Mountain West history to return two punts for touchdowns in the same game.

As a wideout Burse caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr in the first minute of the second quarter. He finished with four receptions for 43 yards. Saturday's output was the senior's first multi-TD performance of his Bulldog career.

With the announcement of Burse's award on Wednesday, it gives Fresno State both week one and week two awards. Derek Carr was the recipient of the opening week's honor following his performance against Rutgers.
