MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Names Derek Carr MW Player of the Week

LAS VEGAS - Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr was named the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl Mountain West Player of the Week Wednesday for his record breaking performance against San Diego State on Sept. 29 at Bulldog Stadium. Carr set school and conference records with 42 completions (on 56 attempts) and 579 yards of total offense (536 passing) to go with five touchdown passes in leading the 'Dogs over rival San Diego State. Carr also tied the Fresno State passing record with 536 yards, which was one yard shy of the MW record held by BYU quarterback Max Hall in 2007. Carr was also named Mountain West Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday. Carr is the first winner of the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Player of the Week award from Fresno State. Each week, a player from both the Mountain West and Pac-12 conferences is selected for nomination and then posted for fan voting via Facebook. College football fans can cast their vote beginning each Monday for the Mountain West Player of the Week. Voting remains open until Wednesday at noon PT at www.facebook.com/lvbowl.
