SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Mountain West Player of the Week
Derek Carr, Senior, Quarterback, Fresno State (Bakersfield, CA/Bakersfield Christian HS)
Carr picks up his third SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Mountain West Player of the Week honor of the season after he was 37-of-48 for 419 yards and five touchdowns in the Bulldogs 61-14 win over Idaho. It was his third 400-yard passing performance of the season. Carr did most of his work in the first half against the Vandals as he passed for 390 yards and all five of his scores. This is the sixth time in his career that Carr has been voted the Mountain West Player of the Week. He was also voted the player of the week in week 1 and week 4 this season.
SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 Player of the Week
Connor Halliday, Junior, Quarterback, Washington State (Spokane, WA/Ferris HS)
A first-time winner, Halliday was 41-of-67 for 521 yards and three touchdowns in the Cougars' 44-22 win over Cal. His completions and yards were both career highs and it was only the second time in Washington State history that a quarterback had passed for more than 500 yards. His 67 attempts set a WSU single-game record. Halliday is the second player from Washington State to be voted the SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 Player of the Week as Damante Horton picked up the honor after his performance in week 2.
Each week, players from both the Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences will be selected for nomination and then posted for voting. All college football fans are welcome to cast their vote starting on Monday each week for Player of the Week at www.facebook.com/lvbowl.
