FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State wide receiver and punt returner Rashad Evans was announced as the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Mountain West Player of the Week on Wednesday for his exemplary performance against Wyoming.
Evans, a senior from San Francisco, earned the most votes in the two-year history of the award after scoring two touchdowns, one receiving and one on a 78-yard punt return, in the 'Dogs 42-14 win over Wyoming on Saturday. He finished with 125 yards on four punt returns to go with his six-yard TD catch.
In four games played this season, Evans has been a sparkplug for the Bulldog offense. In the punt return game, he is averaging 14.1 yards per return and in receiving he has 20 catches for 159 yards with four TD's.
The award is Evans first and he becomes the second Bulldog to garner the honor. Classmate Derek Carr is a two-time recipient for Fresno State as the Bulldogs now own three of the last four MAACO Bowl Las Vegas awards for the Mountain West.
