    FORT WORTH,Texas - The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award announced Monday its 16 semifinalists for its award and Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr is included on the list.

    Carr, who ranks in the top three nationally in seven major offensive statistical categories, is the only player from the Mountain West to be named a semifinalist for the award presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback.

    In leading his team to its first 8-0 start since 1989 and a No. 17 national ranking, Carr has thrown for 382.6 yards per game and 28 touchdowns against only four interceptions. He currently has a streak of 183 consecutive pass attempts without an interception and earlier in the season went 180-straight passes without a pick.

    Fans may now help determine which three quarterbacks will advance as finalists by voting as often as once daily at www.VoteOBrien.org. Fan voting will close at noon (CT) on Nov. 24.

    The three Davey O'Brien finalists will be announced on Monday, Nov. 25 and the 2013 Davey O'Brien winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards airing Thursday, Dec. 12 on ESPN. The 37th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner will be held on Feb.17, 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas.

    In addition to being named a semifinalist for the award, Carr was also named Monday as the co-Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 487 yards and accounting for four total touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) in Fresno State's 41-23 win over Nevada. This is the fifth time in Carr's career he has received the MW weekly award.

    Carr was also named one of eight quarterbacks as a Manning Award Star of the Week on Monday by the AllState Sugar Bowl. College football fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend.
