FRESNO, Calif. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District football teams and Fresno State's Derek Carr and Justin Northern were both voted to the District 8 first-team.
The duo now becomes eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
This is the second-straight season Carr has been selected to the Academic All-District team and the first time for Northern in his career.
Northern, a sophomore out of Lakewood, Calif., has helped lead the Fresno State offense that ranks No. 6 in the FBS in total offense with 539.9 yards per game and eighth in scoring at 43.9 points per game. He and the Bulldog offensive line have only allowed seven sacks on the year and the 'Dogs are tied for 11th in the nation in sacks allowed.
Northern is a mechanical engineering major.
Carr, who has already completed all the work towards his degree in recreation administration and leisure service management, has also been named a National Scholar-Athlete this year by the National Football Foundation.
The awards continue to roll in for Carr, who on Thursday was also named the Maxwell Award National Player of the Week and the Manning Award Player of the Week. This is the fourth time this season Carr has received the weekly Manning Award. Here is a complete list of awards Carr has received this week alone.

No. 17 Fresno State travels to Wyoming this weekend to face the Cowboys in a game being televised nationally on ESPN2. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. PT.
