AT&T Broadband Channel 14 to Air Football Game Against TCU
Nov. 8, 2000
FRESNO, Calif. - AT&T Broadband's local origination channel, Channel 14, "The Home Team," will broadcast Saturday's Fresno State vs. No. 17 TCU football game. Fox Sports Bay Area, the region's Fox Sports Net affiliate, was not able to broadcast the game due to a conflict with the California-Oregon game. The contest will still begin at 12:30 p.m. PST.
"When we found out the game was not going to be on Fox Sports [Bay Area], we contacted Fox Sports and asked if we could provide the coverage," said Randy Reed, AT&T Broadband original programming channel manager. "We realized local Bulldogs fans were not going to be able to see this important matchup on television, so we worked the phones and did everything we could to make sure local viewers could see the game."
The Fresno State-TCU game has major WAC and bowl implications. The Bulldogs come into the contest 5-3 (4-1 WAC) and riding a two-game winning streak. The 17th-ranked Horned Frogs are 7-1 (4-1 WAC) and had their dreams of a perfect season dashed last week in a loss at San Jose State. The game is a rematch of two of last year's WAC co-champions. FS defeated TCU last year 26-19 in overtime.
"We are thrilled that viewers will get the opportunity to watch bonus coverage of the Fresno State-TCU game as well as the Cal-Oregon contest," said Ted Griggs, vice president of programming and operations for Fox Sports Bay Area. "We would like to thank AT&T Broadband and Fresno State for making this possible."
