FRESNO, Calif. - If Saturday's scrimmage is any indication, the Fresno State Bulldogs will be well prepared for the EA Sports Las Vegas Bowl scheduled for Dec. 18 at Sam Boyd Stadium.

"This was a great practice," Fresno State Coach Pat Hill said. "We were very sharp. The guys wanted to run around and hit each other. This was the first time we have had this much contact since the San Jose State game and I think the guys were ready to do some hitting. It was a good crisp practice."

Hill ran his troops through a 30-minute scrimmage Saturday as a part of a two-hour practice in Bulldog Stadium. The scrimmage featured the first unit offense vs. the first defense, plus the second units facing each other.

Fresno State (8-4, 5-2) is tri-champion of the Western Athletic Conference and will play Utah (8-3, 5-2), tri-championship of the Mountain West Conference, in the EA Sports Las Vegas Bowl.

The Bulldogs will have a light practice on Sunday evening and a short practice Monday before taking two days off. According to Hill, the team will begin to focus on Utah beginning with Thursday's practice.

"This is going to be a very physical football game," he said. "Utah prides itself on being a physical team and we are a physical team. This is going to be a heck of a football game. We are preparing for a physical game."

Tickets for the EA Sports Las Vegas Bowl are on sale for $45 at the Fresno State Athletic Ticket Office, the Bulldog Shop or by calling 278-DOGS.
