FRESNO, Calif. - Sports Blog Nation (SBNation.com) announced on Monday that Fresno State wide receiver Davante Adams was named a first-team All-American selection and quarterback Derek Carr was named its Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year.

This is Adams' first, first-team All-American selection. The sophomore wideout was most recently selected as a second-team Walter Camp Football Foundation All-American and to the Athlon Sports All-American third team. In 2012 as a freshman, the Palo Alto native was a fourth-team All-America selection by Phil Steele and an honorable mention selection by Sports Illustrated.

The sophomore wideout currently leads the nation in four categories - receptions (122), receptions per game (10.2), touchdowns (23) and number of games with 10-plus catches (six). His 23 TDs are eight more than any other FBS player and at least equals 87 of the 123 FBS team totals.

Adams' quarterback Derek Carr was named the SBNation.com MW Offensive Player of the Year. The duo has connected 23 times this season for touchdowns and are just three more from tying the all-time FBS record for most touchdown passes between the same passer and receiver in a single-season.

Carr leads the nation in passing TDs (48), total offense (4,983), total passing yards (4,866), passing yards per game (405.5), completions per game (35.33), touchdown responsibility (50), total point responsibility (302) and point responsibility per game (25.2).

He needs 134 yards passing and two TD passes to become the fourth quarterback in FBS history to throw for over 5,000 yards in a season and have 50 or more touchdown passes.

Carr was also named a third-team All-American by Athlon Sports last Thursday.

Up next for All-America selections will be by the Associated Press and CBSsports.com, to be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

No. 21/20 Fresno State will look to cement its legacy on Dec. 21 as the first Bulldog football team to ever reach 12 wins in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl against USC, a game televised nationally on ABC (12:30 p.m. PT).

"Catch the Wave" - The official home of the Fresno State Bulldogs is 940 AM ESPN Radio.
