FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State head football coach Pat Hill took place in an online chat Wednesday at 10 a.m. on ESPN.com. Several fans submitted questions, and the head coach spoke about the Bulldogs' season and the upcoming game against Air Force in the Silicon Valley Football Classic.
Pat Hill admits he's only in the early stages of a reclamation project. For the fourth year head coach, there have been significant signs the "project" is heading the right direction. After consecutive seasons of seven wins or more and consecutive bowl appearances, Hill has the program on track to reach the lofty goals he has established. Hill has also taken the Bulldogs to new heights in the league. His overall WAC record of 21-10 is the best in the WAC over the last four seasons.
Under Hill, the Bulldogs have never lost more than three conference games in a season. His accomplishments are remarkable, considering the rigorous non-conference schedule Fresno State has played since his arrival. In four years, Fresno State has played 16 bowl opponents. All four losses in 2000 were to bowl opponents - Ohio State, UCLA, TCU and UTEP. Three of those teams were ranked in the top 20 when Fresno State played them and all four were on the road. Despite that, Hill still has an impressive 26-21 career record.
