Spencer Named Bulldogs' Head Men's Golf Coach

Chad Spencer, a former Fresno State all-conference golfer, has been chosen to lead his alma mater as the Bulldogs' head men's golf coach.

Fresno State: (2000-01) Competed in seven tournaments including the NCAA Western Regional ... scored in the top-20 at the Nelson at Stanford and set a new personal low round of 69. (2001-02) Played in 12 tournaments, including the WAC and NCAA Championships ... WAC Player of the Week after shooting a 69 and 66 in the Arizona Invitational...placed fourth in the Fresno Lexus Golf Classic...named team Most Improved Player. (2002-03) Competed in 12 tournaments...earned WAC Player of the Week for shooting a 64 in his second round at the U.S. Intercollegiate, which was one stroke shy of breaking the course record of 63...earned Most Outstanding and Most Improved player for the Bulldogs...captured third at WAC Championships...garnered second team All-WAC...All-Ping Southwest region team member...finished 24th at the Topy Cup tournament...finished 22nd at the Inverness Invitational...tied for third at the Fresno State-Lexus Classic.

Rocklin High School: Golf letterwinner who was a four-time all conference pick... selected All-Sacramento Metro team (1998-2000)... averaged 73.7 in 18-hole tournaments in 2000.

Personal: Born Aug. 15, 1981...parents are Cindy and Kevin Spencer... has one sister, Jennifer ... his biggest athletic thrill was winning sectionals in 2000 ... a Who's Who Among American High School Students (2000).
