Watney on Gideon:"Last year I said that Michael was a young man with a very bright future in college golf. I didn't know that the future would show itself so quickly. In only his freshman year, Michael won the CSU Bakersfield invitational and had several other excellent tournaments. Quite frankly, Mike is improving at a quicker pace than I thought possible. The key as I see it is two things. Michael is an outstanding driver of the golf ball. The second asset that sets him apart is his mental toughness. Golf is a game of constant setbacks. The tougher you are, the better you can deal with the setbacks. Mike seems to handle the setbacks better than most players. Then he gets on a birdie run or even throws in an eagle and he's right back in the hunt. Mike has three years left and they are going to be really exciting."
