FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's golf team shot a 13-over, 301 during a windy second round at the WAC Championship to move down into third place at +12, 588. The Bulldogs are seven strokes behind first place San Jose State as the three-day tournament concludes Wednesday.Nate Jessup continues to lead the 'Dogs after shooting a 2-over, 74 to sit in a tie for fifth at even-par (70-74--144). Jessup leads the field in par 4 scoring with a 2-under, 3.9 and his seven birdies are tied for the fourth most.
Keenan Nelson, a redshirt freshman from Murrieta, Calif., made the biggest move for the Bulldogs by carding a 3-over, 75 to jump eight positions into a tie for 30th at 13-over (82-75--157).
Both Jack Mulroy (71-76--147, +3) and Brian Sunker (74-76--150, +6) recorded a 4-over, 76 to sit in 11th and 20th place, respectively. Rufie Fessler will enter the final round in a tie for 17th at 5-over par (72-77--149) after shooting a 5-over, 77.
No. 79 Justin Shin of New Mexico State moved into the individual lead at 6-under after firing a 4-under, 68 over the second round.
The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday to compete in the final round of the WAC Championship with the first 'Dog scheduled to tee off at 8:20 a.m. PST.
