Men's Golf Hosts Annual Banquet

FRESNO, Calif. -- The Fresno State men's golf team celebrated both individual and team efforts over the 2013-14 season with family and friends at the annual awards banquet on Tuesday, May 6th.
The attendees gathered at San Joaquin Country in Fresno, Calif. and reminisced on the season. The 'Dogs were presented with individual and senior awards.
Junior Keenan Nelson was awarded Most Outstanding Player as well as the Bulldog Scholar award. Nelson's best finish of the season was a tie for fifth place at the OGIO UCSB Invitational and his best round of the season, 68 was recorded at Sand Piper Golf Course.
Nelson carded eight round of par of better, three rounds in the 60s, and he made a total of 77 birdies.
Team captain and Senior Nate Jessup was awarded Most Valuable Player. Jessup's best finish of the season was a seventh place at the UCI Anteater Classic and his best round of the season, 68 was recorded at the both Stanford Golf Course and Sonoma Golf Course.
Jessup carded seven rounds of par or better and three rounds in the 60s. Jessup made a total of 92 birdies and held a 73.75 scoring average.
Freshman Michael Pugh was awarded Freshman of the Year. Pugh's best round of the season, 70 was recorded at the Stanford Golf Course. Pugh's recorded eight rounds of 75 or better after competing in six events and he made 37 birdies and one eagle while holding a 76.22 scoring average.
RS Sophomore Troy Sweeney was awarded the Leadership Award. Sweeney is SAAC Vice President and assisted in planning and implementing all SAAC events.
In addition to celebrating team and individual efforts throughout the season Jessup and Daniel Russell were honored as seniors and thanked for the commitment and leadership they brought to the team.
