FRESNO, Calif. -- In his first year as head coach of the men's golf program at Fresno State, Bulldog alumnus Chad Spencer unveiled the 2013-14 schedule. Throughout the fall and spring season, the Bulldogs will compete in twelve tournaments, five of which the Bulldogs will be tournament veterans.
"I am very excited to begin the 2013-2014 season, we have an excellent schedule that will challenge our team," Spencer said.
The Bulldogs tee off their fall season on Sept. 23-24 at the St. Mary's College Invitational in Monterey, Calif. The 'Dogs then travel to Sonoma, Calif. on Oct. 14-15 to compete in the Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by Cal. In closing out their fall season, the Bulldogs will participate in the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif. on Oct. 31- Nov. 2.
The Bulldogs begin their busy and competitive spring schedule on Jan. 27-28 at the UCI Anteater Invitational.
Between January and April the 'Dogs face six tournaments which they have not competed in before including the UCI Anteater Invitational, John Burns Invitational, Del Walker Invitational, Arizona State Invitational, Stanford Invitational and UCSB Intercollegiate.
The Bulldogs will also compete in the Farms Collegiate Invitational in San Diego, Calif. and they will host the Fresno State Lexus Classic on March 10-11 at the San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, Calif.
The Bulldogs will conclude their spring season at the Mountain West Championship in Tucson, Ariz. on April 25-27.
In addition to the six returning student-athletes, the Bulldogs welcome four new players to the team.
"We have a young and talented team," Spencer said. "With only two returning players from last year's starting line-up, it will be very competitive to get on the traveling squad."
With a squad of five lower classmen and five upper classmen, the Bulldogs will work together throughout the season to find the chemistry they need to succeed on the course.
"We need to gain more and more experience as the season progresses," Spencer said. "When that happens we will see a young team improve."
