Golf Travels to Compete in Alister MacKenzie

FRESNO STATE TRAVELS TO COMPETE IN ALISTER MACKENZIE

The Bulldogs are traveling to Fairfax, Calif. to compete in the 16-field Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by California. The tournament will be played at the 54-hole, par-71 Meadow Club golf course. Fresno State captured the title last year with an 841 finish, while individually former Bulldog, Nick Watney garnered the title with a 202.

BULLDOGS TAKE SEVENTH AT FRESNO STATE-LEXUS CLASSIC

The Bulldogs finished seventh last weekend at their only home fall tournament besides hosting the WAC Championship with a final score of 858 (288-281-289). Colorado State captured the title with a 831 (281-271-279), while San Diego State finished second with 834 (285-272-277). Individually, junior Ryan Carter led the 'Dogs tying for 27th with 215 (76-67-72). Senior Chad Spencer tied for 33rd with 217 (72-73-72). Playing individually, sophomore Dusty Deidrich tied for 43rd with 219 (77-69-73). Also playing individually, freshman Daniel Buell tied for 51st with 221 (70-71-80). Sophomore Mark Modglin tied for 60th with a 223 (73-77-73). Sophomore Tyler Sanders, also playing individually, tied for 67th with 225 (78-69-78). Junior George McKean (225=72-75-78) and sophomore Ryan McDonald (225=74-73-78) tied for 67th. Also playing individually, sophomore Gunnar Avinelis tied for 88th with a 231 (76-80-75) and freshman Paul Imondi finished 94th with a 238 (75-80-83). Nolan Martin of Colorado State captured the individual title with a 204 (68-68-68), while Andrew Scott of San Diego State finished second with a 205 (69-66-70).

BULLDOGS FINISHED EIGHTH AT WASHINGTON

Fresno State traveled to Seattle, Wash., to compete in the Opus Northwest Husky Invitational Sept. 29-30 at Gold Mountain Complex in Bremerton. The 54-hole tournament took place on the par-72, 7,035-yard Olympic Course. Fresno State finished eighth out of the 10-team field with a 1124 (383-375-366). Washington captured first with a 1087 (365-366-356), while San Diego State State garnered second place honors with 1108 (372-373-363). Individually, playing with a six-man squad, senior Chad Spencer with a 221 (73-76-72) and junior Ryan Carter with a 221 (76-73-72), tied for 13th. Sophomore Mark Modglin tied for 29th with 226 (79-75-72), senior Jeremy Moreno tied for 38th with a 228 (76-77-75), sophomore Dusty Diedrich tied for 47th with a 232 (83-74-75) and freshman Daniel Buell tied for 59th with 238 (79-81-78).

'DOGS TIED FOR SEVENTH AT UOP

The Bulldogs traveled to Stockton,Calif., to compete in their first tournament of the season, Sept. 22-23. The 12-team UOP Invitational was played at The Reserve at Spanos Park. Fresno State tied for seventh out of the 12-teamfield finishing with a final round of 879 (292-294-293). Georgia Southern captured the championship with 854 (286-279-289). The Bulldogs that competed were senior Chad Spencer, who tied for eighth with a 213 (71-69-73). Playing as an individual, sophomore Mark Modglin tied for 11th with a 216 (69-70-77). Junior Ryan Carter, 220 (74-72-74), and freshman Daniel Buell, 220 (72-78-70), tied for 28th. Also playing as an individual, senior Jeremy Moreno tied for 40th with a 223 (75-74-74). Junior George McKean tied for 57th with a 228 (77-75-76) and sophomore Ryan McDonald finished 66th with a 232 (75-79-78).
