FRESNO, Calif. -- The Fresno State men's golf team will play in the 40th Annual Pacific Invitational on Oct. 29-31. The Bulldogs face a class event held at the par-72, 6,777-yard Brookside Country Club in Stockton, Calif.
"I am really looking forward to going back to Stockton," head coach Mike Watney said. "We will have two or three guys familiar with Brookside Country Club."
"I'm excited for junior transfer, Daniel Russell to play in his first Division I tournament," Watney said. "He is a nice young man who is a little rough around the edges but who is going to improve rapidly because he has a lot of talent."
Fessler and Tonkham enter the tournament with the lowest two-tournament average. Fessler leads the 'Dogs with an even 71 and Tonkham sits in second with a 72.17.
"Senior Rufie Fessler is off to a great start this year, averaging 71 for two tournaments," Watney said. "Plus, our freshman, Troix Tonkham, is already showing the maturity of a veteran with half of his competitive rounds being under par. If we get clicking on all cylinders we can win this tournament."
The 'Dogs face a 12-team field during the three-day, 54-hole tournament. The Bulldogs tee off each 18 hole round at 8 a.m.
