FRESNO, Calif. -- Men's golf head coach Mike Watney announced the addition of Michael Pugh to the Bulldogs' 2013-14 roster after signing a National Letter of Intent to play golf at Fresno State.

"I am excited that Michael will be coming to Fresno State," Watney said. "He is physically gifted and already hits the golf ball a long ways. He has the whole package that we like at Fresno State. He is a great golfer, his grades are excellent, and he has a fantastic attitude about doing things right and doing them promptly. He is excited about becoming a Bulldog."

Pugh, a Temecula, Calif. native, begins his final golf season at Great Oaks High School (GOHS) in Feb. 2013. Following graduation, Pugh will join the Bulldogs in the fall of 2013.

Pugh began playing golf at the age of 13 and earned a Varsity letter all four years of high school. He was awarded GOHS Scholar Athlete in two consecutive years and was first team all-league and first team all-conference as a sophomore and junior.

Additionally, Pugh has individually won numerous tournaments. In the last two years, he was awarded the Rickie Fowler Cup for low scoring average on the VJGA Tour (a Southern California Junior Tour) and he qualified for Boys Cal State Amateur.

Pugh was an integral part of the 2012 GOHS golf team that won the CIF Eastern Section Championship, placed 3rd in the Southern California Section Championship, and placed 4th in the Southern California Championship.

The men's golf team looks forward to having Pugh join the Bulldog family. The Bulldogs tee off their spring season on Feb. 11, 2013 in San Diego, Calif. at the Farms Collegiate Invitational hosted by University of San Diego.
