Men's Soccer Drops Season Finale to No. 1 UCLA, 1-0

FRESNO, Calif. - Jordan Harvey headed in Kiel McClung's cross in the 37th minute to lift top-ranked UCLA to a 1-0 win over Fresno State Saturday at Drake Stadium. The Bulldogs lost their season high tying fourth straight to finish the season with a 5-14 overall record including a 2-8 mark in the Pac-10. The Bruins improved to 18-1-1 overall and became the first team in the four-year history of Pac-10 men's soccer to go undefeated in conference play with a 10-0 record. Harvey's goal was his fourth of the season while McClung was credited with his second assist on the year. Fresno State had a good chance earlier in the game to get on the scoreboard. In the 27th minute, senior forward Jeremiah LeRoy shot a header towards an open net, but Bruin defender Leonard Griffin cleared it out. On the resulting corner kick, LeRoy had another header that was saved by UCLA goalkeeper Zach Wells. Wells, Nate Pena and Eric Reed combined to record UCLA's 15th shutout of the season, the second-best total in school history, Each made a save apiece while facing a total of 11 shots. The Bulldogs were blanked for a school record tying eighth time this year. Fresno State sophomore goalkeeper Eric Kronberg had six saves on the night to become the school's single season saves leader with 106 in 2003. Kronberg eclipsed the previous high of 104 shared by Jeff Zamensky (1977) and Bill Walzberg (1970). Adolfo Gregorio led UCLA's 17-shot attack with four of his own while his younger brother, Andrew, paced the Bulldogs' 11-shot performance with three shots. Fresno State also held a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.
