Dogs Drop Sweet 16 Clash with Gophers

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 28 Fresno State competed against the No. 33 Minnesota on Saturday for the consolation round of the ITA National Indoors Sweet 16, with the Gophers earning the 4-2 victory. After falling short in doubles and the Gophers earning the doubles point. The Bulldogs battled it out in singles and earned two points. Rikus de Villiers fought his way to victory on court one against the Gopher's Rok Bonin. After dropping the first match, 3-6 he came back and swept the second set and earned the win in the third set, 6-3. No. 69 ranked singles competitor Remi Boutillier defeated Minnesota's Sebastian Gallego in two quick sets, 6-4, 6-4. The Gophers also earned victories on courts 3, 5 and 6. The Bulldogs return home on Feb. 4 to compete against San Diego State. This will start Fresno States first of four home matches.
