Fresno State Takes Dual Over Arizona, 4-3

    TUSCON, Ariz. --- The Fresno State men's tennis team came from behind to defeat Arizona 4-3 for its fourth straight victory on Saturday afternoon at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center in Tucson, Ariz. The Bulldogs have now won five of their last six dual matches played.

    "Today was a total team effort from start to finish," said Fresno State head coach Evan Austin. "I couldn't be more proud of our guys for finding a way to come back on the road against a very tough Arizona team."

    After dropping the doubles point to the Wildcats, Fresno State (7-7, 1-2 MW) came from behind with strong singles play to defeat Arizona 4-3.

    Sophomore Nikolas Papic started the comeback for the Bulldogs, winning his point over Sumeet Shinde (6-2, 6-2) on court two.

    The Wildcats then rallied winning the next two points at the No. 3 and 5 slots.

    Sai Kartik Nakireddi and Eric Komati then won their respected points for Fresno State to put the 'Dogs back in the match.

    With the dual knotted, freshman Ethan Lopez came from behind to clinched the second-straight match for the Bulldogs on court six, defeating Arizona's Trevor James (3-6, 6-0, 6-4).

    "We're really starting to build a lot of confidence and are looking to take it into next week against Boise State," added Austin.

    After sweeping two road matches this weekend, Fresno State continues conference play at Boise State on March 23 at 3:30 p.m. PT.
