Fresno State Bests UCSB, 5-2

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 34 Fresno State men's tennis beat No. 55 UC Santa Barbara, 5-2, on Tuesday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The Gauchos (12-8) came to play against the Bulldogs (17-3) taking the doubles point early in the match with wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions. The only Bulldog doubles win came from 78th-ranked Remi Boutillier and Francis Alcantara with a 9-8 (3) defeat over Mathieu Forget and Benjamin Recknagel at the No. 1 spot. In singles the `Dogs fought back with four-straight wins to clinch the team victory. At the No. 2 spot, 51st-ranked Alcantara defeated Recknagel, 6-3, 6-1 and shortly after, 25th-ranked Boutillier beat No.122 Forget, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1. David Ayoun bested Zaid Sultan, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 4 singles and freshman Reid DeLaubenfels clinched the team win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Max Glenn at No. 6. At the No. 3 spot, Jean-Charles Diame suffered a 7-6 (3), 6-3 loss to Mbonisi Ndimande. Zachary Leslie defeated Alexander Gryaznov, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, to finish the match at the No. 5 spot.
