COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- The fifth-seeded Fresno State men's tennis team lost 4-1 to fourth-seeded and nationally ranked New Mexico on Thursday morning in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament.

The Lobos got off to a quick start winning the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. Both courts were won 8-3.

In singles, UUNM raced ahead 3-0 notching wins at No. 1 and No. 6. Despite only having four matches left on court, the 'Dogs still had a legitimate chance to win. Junior Sam MacNeil and freshman Nikolas Papic both won their first sets, while Reid deLaubenfels had forced a third set and Sai Kartik Nakireddi was trying to do the same.

Papic secured the lone point for the Bulldogs as he defeated Mitch McDaniels 6-2, 7-5 at the four spot.

Samir Iftikhar eventually secured the match for the Lobos with a large comeback in the second set to defeat Kartik 6-2, 7-6(8-6). Fresno State finished 7-17 on the season. Tennis Match Results
