'Dogs Dominate in Day One of Napa Invite

    NAPA, Calif. --- The Fresno State men's tennis team kicked off its fall season today with five wins in the 2013 Silverado College Tennis Invitational in Napa, Calif. The Bulldogs picked up four wins over UNLV in singles, and split doubles play against Arizona.

    In singles, the Bulldogs won all four matches over the Rebels. In their first competition as Bulldogs, Adriaan DuToit, John Darmstaedter and Ethan Lopez all won their respected single matches. DuToit defeated Willie Sublette of UNLV in straight sets 6-0, 6-3. Fellow newcomer, Darmstaedter beat Denys Pume 6-3, 6-0. Sophomore Felipe Fritz beat Tamas Batyi in three sets 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. Lopez defeated Christian Brocksteg in two sets 6-2, 6-0.

    Fritz paired with Darmstaedter in doubles against the Wildcats for the 8-5 win. Newcomers DuToit and Lopez dropped their first doubles match 8-5.

    The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m., with doubles play against Idaho and singles matches against San Francisco.
