Modoc, Almada Both Fall in First Round of ITA All-American Qualifying

Modoc fell to Evgheni Corduneau of Louisiana-Lafayette 6-4, 6-2 in his first match. Almada, the No. 76th ranked player in the nation, went to three sets but also lost 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to 98th-ranked Evan Austin of Kentucky.
The Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships include six days of qualifying matches leading up to the Oct. 9-12, 64-player, 32-doubles team main draw. A 256-player and 128-doubles team prequalifying tournaments were played October 3-6, which fed into a 64-player and 32-doubles team qualifying tournaments. The combined singles tournament fields can run over 350 players and a player who begins in prequalifying must win seven matches just to reach the main draw.
