'Dogs Conclude Competition at Aggie Invite

DAVIS, Calif. ---The Fresno State men's tennis team picked up 10 wins over the weekend at the UC Davis Aggie Invitational at the Marya Welch Tennis Center in Davis, Calif.
The Bulldogs started the tournament strong in doubles play, winning both matches on day one. Nikolas Papic and Ethan Lopez defeated Pacific's Alex Hamilton and Eric Cederwall (8-6). Junior Sai Kartik Nakireddi and senior Sam MacNeil paired for the second tournament in a row and were victorious over San Francisco's Johan Samuelsson and Timothy Tan (8-3).
Both doubles teams then advanced the next round on Saturday. Lopez and Papic's run ended with a (8-4) loss to Ashot Khacharyan and Sam Bertram of UC Santa Cruz in the quarterfinals. Kartik and MacNeil defeated Alec Adamson and Brett Barcharach of Davis (8-5) in the quarterfinals and then fell to Portland's Machael Hukwo and Reid deLaubenfels (8-4) in the semifinals.
In singles action MacNeil was the only Bulldog to win both of his matches on day one, defeating San Francisco's Chris Brockstedt (6-3, 6-3) and Anthony Tsodikov of Stanford (7-6(5), 2-6, 6-3). MacNeil then fell to Oregon's Robin Cambier on Saturday in the singles quarterfinals round, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(3).
On the last day of competition Papic, Lopez and Kartik all walked away with wins in their respected round-robin singles matches.
