MacNeil Makes Quarterfinals

MORAGA, Calif. --- Senior Sam MacNeil of the Fresno State men's tennis team advances to the singles quarterfinals after three days of competition in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Men's Regional tournament at the Moraga Country Club in Moraga, Calif.
Fresno State had three victories as they advanced through the ITA Regional tournament on day two and three of competition.
On Saturday MacNeil and John Darmstaedter defeated California's Andre Goransson and Mads Engsted (8-7(8)) in the doubles round of 32. MacNeil and Darmstaederter then fell to Washington's Emmett Egger and Jeff Hawke (8-2) in the round of 16.
In singles compettion MacNeil defeated Gregory Bayane of California (6-3;6-2) in the round of 32 on Saturday to advance to the round of 16 on Sunday where he beat USF Bernardo Saraiva in straight sets (7-6, 6-1).
MacNeil moves into the singles quarterfinals round where he will face Pacific's Sem Verbeek on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m.
