`Dogs Battle in Finals at Rebel Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's tennis team was a part of four final matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV Sunday. In the Flight One singles final, freshman Remi Boutillier battled No. 49 Elliot Wronski of host UNLV. The Bulldog was unable to take down the Rebel as Wronski won the match 6-2, 6-2. Bulldog junior Flavio Mollinedo reached the Flight Two final after winning three matches entering Sunday. Mollinedo put up a fight against Maxime Adam of Fresno Pacific in the championship, before dropping the match 6-2, 6-4. The Bulldogs were also featured in the doubles championship. Boutillier and sophomore Rikus de Villiers were stopped short in the finals by Barlocchi/Wronski of UNLV by a score of 8-4. Taylor Leiby competed in the consolation finals against Bryan Miller of UNLV. Miller took the match away from the Bulldog 7-6, 6-1. "Overall it was a solid tournament for the Bulldogs," said head coach Jay Udwadia. "We could have come out stronger today, but we will continue to work hard and improve for the spring season." After completing the fall season at the Rebel Classic, the `Dogs will be back on the court Jan. 25 at home against Cal Poly to begin the dual match season. Rebel Classic -- Final Results
