'Dogs Set For ITA Kick-Off Weekend

By Stephanie Juncker FRESNO, Calif. --- The Fresno State men's tennis team is set to head south to Los Angeles to participate in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at host site USC. The 'Dogs will be joined by USC, Georgia Tech, and San Diego State. Fresno State is slated to take on Georgia Tech on Friday at 1 p.m. In the most recent ITA men's national team rankings, USC remains at No. 2, Georgia Tech fell one spot to No. 60 and San Diego State sits three spots ahead of the Bulldogs at No. 66.
Schedule of Play: First Weekend; First Win After nearly four hours of grueling tennis in the first match, the 'Dogs were edged out by Saint Mary's 4-3. Fresno State picked up singles wins from Reid DeLaubenfels, Nikolas Papic and Sai Kartik Nakireddi. The team split a pair of matches during Sunday's doubleheader against Cal Poly and UC Riverside. The `Dogs first win of the year came in the second half of the doubleheader after falling 4-1 earlier in the day to Cal Poly as a 4-0 sweep over UC Riverside. New Top 'Dog
Austin was the head coach at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, for the last two seasons where he posted a 45-6 (.882) overall record, won two MVC championships and coached two different conference Players of the Year, as well as winning two MVC Coach of the Year awards.
