    Weekly Match Release

FRESNO, Calif. ---The Fresno State men's tennis team is back in action this weekend after a 13- day hiatus from competition. The 'Dogs will take on Pacific at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon (following the women's match that begins at 10 a.m.) and Sacramento State at 12 p.m. on Sunday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.

    About the Competition
Pacific enters the match up with the 'Dogs following a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to San Diego State. The Tigers (5-3) are led by senior Alex Golding who was named the Big West men's tennis athlete of the week after winning three out of his four matches a week ago.

Sacramento State comes into Fresno looking for a win after dropping their last three straight matches. The Hornets (1-5) single win on the season came at a neutral site against UC Irvine in January. The Bulldogs and Hornets have not met since 2005.

Fresno State has never lost to either Sacramento State (FS leads series 7-0) or Pacific (FS leads series 6-0).

    Last Time Out
The last time Fresno State hit the courts was against San Diego State and Auburn almost exactly two weeks ago. Due to inclement weather the match versus the Aztecs began with singles during which SDSU claimed four singles wins preventing any need to play doubles. The 'Dogs bounced back to take on SEC powerhouse Auburn two days later during which freshman Felipe Fritz was able to pick up the 'Dogs lone point against the Tigers.

    New Top 'Dog
Evan Austin is in his first season as the head coach of the Fresno State men's tennis team and becomes the seventh head coach in the history of the program and replaces Jay Udwadia, who guided the Bulldogs for the past eight seasons.

Austin was the head coach at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, for the last two seasons where he posted a 45-6 (.882) overall record, won two MVC championships and coached two different conference Players of the Year, as well as winning two MVC Coach of the Year awards.
