    Weekly Match Release

FRESNO, Calif. ---The Fresno State men's tennis team travels to La Jolla, Calif. this weekend to participate in the 124th Annual Pacific Coast Doubles Championship which is hosted by the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.

Fresno State will take on the Rice Owls Thursday at 11 a.m. before beginning the main draw on Friday morning.

    About the Tournament

The Pacific Coast Doubles Championship is an exciting and fun weekend of doubles only action. The USTA sponsored event includes college programs, coaches, and USTA members as the participants.

The matches will be played as a best of three set match, which is a change from the normal college format of playing an eight-game pro set prior to singles play.

Fresno State will field three doubles pairs along with one coaching duo. Below are the first round draws for each pair:

Reid deLaubenfels & Sam MacNeil (FS) vs. Peter Frank & Philipp Seifert
Nikolas Papic & Jeremy Quiroz (FS) vs. #8 seed Gregory M. Garcia & Tyler Lu
Felipe Fritz & Sai Kartik Nakireddi (FS) vs. Octavian Popaluca & Jason T. Wall
Head Coach Evan Austin & Asst. David Ayoun (FS) vs. Kareem F. Farah & Tyler Kratky

Fresno State returned to action after nearly two weeks without a match and the 'Dogs split two 4-3 matches. Saturday saw the Bulldogs picking up a 4-3 win which ended a five match skid. The 'Dogs then dropped a close battle on Sunday to Sacramento State 4-3.

Freshman Nikolas Papic came up big for the Bulldogs as he went undefeated in singles and doubles over the weekend. He paired with Jeremey Quiroz in doubles at No. 3 and played at No. 3 as well in singles. Papic picked up his first two wins at the third spot with two tough and critical three set matches.

Junior Sam MacNeil also played well over the weekend as he won both of his singles matches and went 1-for-2 in doubles at the top spot with Reid deLaubenfels.
