FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 40 Fresno State men's tennis team opens the conference season by hosting three WAC opponents this weekend at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The Bulldogs face No. 63 Hawai'i on Friday at 4:30 p.m., then on Saturday take on Utah State at 9:30 a.m. and Idaho at 3 p.m.

The Bulldogs' match with Hawai'i is a rematch of the 2008 WAC Championship match, when Hawai'i came away with a 4-2 victory, for the WAC Title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Previously in 2008, the Bulldogs routed the Warriors 6-1 on Feb. 8, 2008 in Fresno, Calif.

The Bulldogs come into the weekend with a 10-6 record and riding a four-match winning streak.

Fresno State is led by the 2008 WAC Player of the Year Rudolf Siwy, who is currently ranked 64th in the nation in singles and 37th in doubles with partner Mirko Zapletal.

Hawai'i, the defending WAC champion, features the No. 93 singles player in the nation, Dennis Lajola. The Warriors come into the match with a 3-7 record, and it will be their first match since they wrapped up their trip to the Blue-Gray Classic with a 4-0 loss to Oklahoma on March 21.

Fresno State and Hawaii have met ten times in the series history, with the Bulldogs winning nine of the matches.

Utah State comes into the weekend with an 8-6 record on the year. The 'Dogs and Aggies last met in the WAC Tournament, when the Bulldogs sent Utah State home with a 4-0 first round defeat. Fresno State is 4-0 all time against Utah State.

Similarly, Fresno State is 4-0 in the series with Idaho. The two schools last met in 2007, with the Bulldogs coming away with a 4-0 shutout.

The Vandals are 12-7 on the year, and have won two of their last three matches.

Fresno State's Siwy will be looking to climb up the school record list over the weekend. The senior from the Czech Republic is 16th on the career wins list with 72, and needs just one more win to tie Billy Wakefield (1982-85) for 15th place.

The Bulldogs will next be in action on April 7 against No. 8 Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif.
