MW Tennis Championship Brackets Announced

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- The Fresno State women's tennis team was announced as the No. 1 seed of the 2014 Mountain West Championships by the conference on Monday, while the Fresno State men's tennis team was declared as the No. 5 seed.

    The women's team has won its last nine matches and 12 of the past 13. Earning the top spot in the tournament, the 'Dogs enter the tournament ranked No. 68 with a 13-8 overall record, including a perfect 5-0 mark in conference play.

    The Bulldog women will open tournament play in the quarterfinals on Friday at 10 a.m., where they will face either No. 8 seed UNLV (10-10, 2-3) or No. 9 seed Air Force (13-8, 2-3). Fresno State defeated UNLV 4-3 during regular season action and has not face Air Force yet this year.

    Earning a No. 5 seed in the tournament, the Fresno State men's team will face No. 4 seed Nevada (18-4, 4-2) in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 10 a.m. The Bulldogs have won 10 of their last 12 duals and finished regular season play with a 13-9 overall record, 3-4 in MW play.

    Fresno State is the host for the 2014 MW Tennis Championship that will be held April 23-27 at the Sierra Sport & Racquet Club in Fresno, Calif. First-round action begins on Wednesday, April 23 at 10 a.m. PT. The women's championship match will take place on Sunday, April 27 at 10 a.m. PT and the men's championship game will follow directly afterwards at 1 p.m.
