Four Bulldogs Earn All-Mountain West Honors

FRESNO, Calif. --- Four Bulldogs were selected to the 2014 All-Mountain West tennis teams by the conference on Wednesday night at the annual banquet which marked the start of the MW Championship which hosted by Fresno State this week.

For the women, sophomores Sophie Watts and Rana Sherif Ahmed were both named the All-Mountain West Singles Team. Watts finished regular season with a 12-9 mark at the No. 1 spot including a 4-1 MW record, while Ahmed won seven matches for the 'Dogs this spring at the No. 2 slate.

Sophie Watts was also named to the All-Mountain West Doubles Team alongside doubles partner Anneka Watts. The twin duo went 14-3 overall this spring which was highlighted by a 10-match win streak from Feb. 8-March 16.

As the top seed in the tournament, the women's team begins action in the quarterfinals of the MW Championship on Friday at 10 a.m. PT versus the eighth-seed UNLV.

On the men's side, Junior Sai Kartik Nakireddi earned a spot on the All-Mountain West Singles Team as he spent most of the season at the top spot and finished the year with a 14-7 overall record.

The men's tennis team's is set to face Nevada in the quarterfinals of the MW tournament tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. PT.
