Three Bulldogs Off To NCAA Championship

FRESNO, Calif. - The NCAA announced Fresno State's mens tennis doubles team No. 15 Rikus de Villiers and Remi Boutillier and women's tennis No. 58 Marianne Jodoin will compete in the 2011 NCAA Doubles and Singles Championships on May 25-30 at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif.
The Bulldog duo went 16-6 on the season and posted a 6-1 mark against conference opponents.
This will be the duos second trip to the NCAA Doubles Championships together.
The No. 38 Fresno State men's tennis team will take on No. 19 University of Minnesota for the first round of the NCAA Regional on Friday May 13 in Berkeley, Calif.
The NCAA selects 32 doubles teams to participate in the championships and every conference receives an automatic bid for the tournament. Boutillier and de Villiers earned the WAC's automatic bid to the doubles championships and will be the only WAC combo in the tournament.
The doubles championship will begin after the conclusion of the team championships. All matches will be best of three sets and sets will be first one to six games with a 12-point tiebreaker at six games all.
The freshman from Varennes, Quebec went 18-6 in the season and climbed as high as No. 54 in the ITA Singles Rankings this year. Jodoin went undefeated, 8-0 in conference play in singles and picked up four victories against ranked opponents during 2010-11 season.
The No. 62 Fresno State women's tennis team will take on No. 20 University of Notre Dame for the first round of the NCAA Regional on Friday May 13 in Evanston, Ill.
The NCAA selects 64 individuals to participate in the championships and every conference receives an automatic bid for the tournament. Jodoin earned the WAC's automatic bid to the singles championships.
