Men's Tennis Set for Aggie Invite

    FRESNO, Calif. ---The Fresno State men's tennis is set to compete in the UC Davis Aggie Invitational this weekend, Oct. 4-6, at the Marya Welch Tennis Center in Davis, Calif.

    The 82-person tournament features players from California, UC Davis, Nevada, Oregon, Pacific, Sacramento State, Portland, UC Santa Cruz, Saint Mary's, Sonoma State, Stanford and San Francisco.

    Fresno State will be represented by freshman Ethan Lopez, sophomore Nikolas Papic, junior Sai Kartik Nakireddi and senior Sam MacNeil.

    In the first round of the Aggie singles bracket, Papic will face Oregon's Joey Swaysland and MacNeil will play San Francisco's Chris Brockstedt. In the Big West singles bracket, Kartik is set to play Rich VanHout of San Francisco and Lopez will take on Pacific's Eric Cederwall.

    Coming off of their doubles championship last weekend at the Bulldog Invitation, Lopez and Papic pair up again to take on Pacific's Alex Hamilton and Eric Cederwall in the first round of doubles play. Kartik and MacNeil are pairing for the second tournament in a row and play San Francisco's Johan Samuelsson and Timothy Tan on day one.

    The tournament kicks off at 8 a.m. on Friday with doubles matches, singles matches will follow directly afterwards. Saturday and Sunday's matches will begin with doubles play 9 a.m. each day.
