FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State men's tennis head coach Jay Udwadia has announced that Rudolf Siwy will join the team for the spring season. Siwy is a 6-0, 158 pound native of Trinec, Czech Republic. In his home country, Siwy had tremendous success in the junior ranks and is expected to be a tremendous asset to the Bulldog program.

In 2003, Siwy took third place in the under-18 singles championships. In 2004, he captured the under-18 doubles championships before taking third place in the Czech Republic national doubles championships earlier this year.

"I expect Rudolf to make an immediate impact on our team this year," said Udwadia. "He'll be very good in singles, but he'll also add a lot of punch to our doubles lineup. I suspect Rudolf will be very successful during his entire career here at Fresno State."

The Bulldogs will open the season at home Jan. 22 when they host UC Davis and Cal Poly in a double-header. The first match will begin 11 am while the second match is set to start at 3 pm at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
