Kevin Lake

Kevin Lake joins the Fresno State wrestling coaching staff following three years as an assistant at two NCAA colleges. Lake has been coaching wrestling for the past five years and brings valuable experience to the position of head assistant coach. In addition to on-mat instruction, Lake's duties will include the organization of practice, overseeing camps and clinics, the continued implementation of academic policies and an emphasis on recruiting. The background that Lake has in coaching will help him with those duties. Lake spent last season as the assistant coach for South Dakota State University, where he helped lead the Jacks to a 10-8 dual record along with a first place finish in the American division at the Virginia Duals. Prior to his employment at South Dakota State, Lake served as the assistant coach at Princeton University. During his time at Princeton, the Tigers had a two-time All-American and four All-Ivy League selections. Lake has also previously worked with Shawn Charles at Central Michigan, where they both coached during the 1999-00 season. Lake also has experience as a head coach, leading the Division III MacMurray College wrestling program in Jacksonville Illinois. A wrestler during his four years a Manchester College, Lake was a part of a squad that won four Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference championships and placed in the NCAA Division III top 10 three times, including the 1997-98 when Lake served as team captain and the team finished a school-best sixth at the NCAA Championships. Lake earned his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science while at Manchester College, and finished work on his Master's Degree in Sports Administration from Central Michigan in 2004. A native of New Haven, Ind., he currently resides in Fresno. |
