Fresno, Calif. - Fresno State Wrestling lost their first home dual match of the season to the No. 1 Oklahoma State Cowboys 34-6 on Wednesday night in front of 1,286 fans at the North Gym. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-2 on the season, while the Cowboys move to 6-0.

The Bulldogs started off the match well, as sophomore Christian Bowerman won a tight 2-1 decision over Derek Stevens in the 125-pound match. The dual looked to continue in that manner the Bulldogs, as junior Joe Mavins was ahead 6-2 in the 133-pound match in the third period, but the momentum was turned as Justin Porter pinned Mavins at 6:11.

The Bulldogs then lost two more matches, as Daniel Frishkorn won a decision against Garrett Spooner in the 141-pound match, and then No.1 Zack Esposito scored a technical fall against Dan Cadwallader 21-5. Bulldog Senior Jim Medeiros picked up the second victory of the night for Fresno State over Eric Dabbs, winning 6-3 at 157 pounds, and moving the match score to 14-6 in favor of Oklahoma State.

However, the Cowboys responded by winning the remaining five matches, including two major decision wins by No.3 Johny Hendricks over Shane Seibert at 165 pounds and No. 1 Steve Mocco over No. 12 Clint Walbeck in the heavyweight match. Oklahoma State also added a second pin in the 174-pound match, as defending NCAA champion Chris Pendleton took down true freshman Chris Gifford in 5:52.

No. 6 Marcio Botelho of Fresno State was defeated by No. 1 Jake Rosholt in the 197-pound match, and Jatinder Singh lost a close match at 184 pounds to Clay Kehrer, 5-3.
