Bulldog Wrestling Recruits Gonzales And Duenas Named Honorable Mention High School All-Americans
May 30, 2006 Fresno, Calif. - Two members of the incoming Fresno State wrestling class received one of the highest honors the sport awards, as both were named to the Wrestling USA High School All-America Team. Both Armando Gonzales and Adin Duenas were honorable mentions on the team. Armamdo Gonzales, a senior from Gilroy High School in Gilroy, Calif., posted a 175-21 record in his high school career, along with being a four-time sectional champion in California's Central Coast Section. He also placed third and fifth in the CIF state championships in 2005 and 2006 at 140 pounds. He is joined on the team by Adin Duenas. Also hailing from Gilroy High School, Duenas was 168-25 in his high school career, finishing his senior year at 135 pounds. He finished as high as third in the CIF state championships, and also had a seventh place finish. Duenas finished his high school career with a fourth place finish at the National High School Championships. "Gilroy High School has a very good wrestling program, and these two wrestlers are examples of that," said Fresno State head coach Shawn Charles. "Both of these guys are very dedicated to the sport, wrestling all year long at any event they can attend and are also great students. They are the type of student-athletes that all coaches try to recruit into their programs, and we're looking forward to the impact that they will have here at Fresno State."
