'Dogs Tame Tigers, 61-52

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's basketball team defeated the Pacific Tigers for the third-straight year and lead the overall series 24-20. The Bulldogs (9-3, 0-0 WAC) beat Pacific 61-52 on Sunday afternoon.
"I think that any time you only give up 52 points in a game, you can't complain," said head coach Adrian Wiggins. "It was a grind for both teams. Pacific plays hard and I thought they did a good job. We could have played better offensively. We had a lot of rushed opportunities."
Fresno State had three score in double figures. Sophomore Ki-Ki Moore led the way with 15 points and recorded a team-high three steals. She is averaging 17.5 points per game this season. Freshman Madison Parrish and junior Rosie Moult added 13 points each. Moult led the team with 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
The first four minutes were evenly matched between the Bulldogs and Tigers. The game remained tied 2-2, but the `Dogs took control of the game with a 14-2 run over a five minute span. With 9:31 left until halftime, Fresno State led Pacific 16-6.
Fresno State led Pacific 28-18 at half time. Parrish scored a team-high nine points and five rebounds in the first half. The freshman shot 58 percent from the field including 5-for-8 in the paint. The Bulldogs forced the Tigers to turn the ball over 12 times, which resulted in nine Bulldog points.
The `Dogs bench scored 13 points in the first half and together have scored in double figures in 10 games this season. The bench is averaging almost 20 points per game and ended the game with a total of 21 points.
In the second half, the Tigers cut the `Dogs lead to two points with 15:23 to play. The Bulldogs answered with 10-0 run to increase their lead over Pacific 40-28 with 12:49 left in the game. Moore scored back-to-back layups to put the `Dogs back ahead by 10.
Fresno State defeated Pacific 61-52 extending its win streak to three in a row over the Tigers. The Bulldogs head to UC Riverside on Wednesday, Dec. 21 and face the Highlanders at 7 p.m.
