COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State senior guard Bree Farley was named Monday as the Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
It is the first weekly honor for Farley in her career and she becomes the second Bulldog, joining Moriah Faulk (Dec. 16), to win the MW award this season.
Farley led Fresno State to two conference-opening victories at UNLV and vs. Boise State last week by averaging 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 70.6 percent from the field (12-of-17), including 71.4 percent from three-point range (5-of-7). Farley was also a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line.
In the win at UNLV on New Year's Day, Farley was 6-for-9 from the field for 15 points and she posted a career-high seven steals to go with six rebounds and four assists.
Then in Saturday's win over Boise State, Farley recorded the first double-double of her career. She scored a season-high 20 points and collected a career-high 11 rebounds in the 72-63 home victory. Farley was 6-for-8 from the field vs. the Broncos, which included a 4-for-5 mark from behind the 3-point line as she set a new season-high for 3-pointers made in a game.
For the season, Farley is averaging 11.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and is shooting 48.6 percent from the field, which is the fourth-highest shooting percentage in the Mountain West. Farley also leads the league in 3-point field goal percentage at .463 and her 19 made 3-pointers are tied for the second-most on the team.
