LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Fresno State seniors Bree Farley and Taylor Thompson were both named to the 2013-14 Mountain West Women's Basketball All-Conference teams that were announced Sunday by the league office.
Thompson was named the Mountain West's Co-Defensive Player of the Year and to the first-team while Farley was a second-team selection.
Nevada center Mimi Mungedi was the co-defensive player of the year with Thompson.
This is the second consecutive season and the third time in school history that a Bulldog has been named the league's defensive player of the year. Ki-Ki Moore was the 2012-13 MW Defensive Player of the Year and Jaleesa Ross garnered the same award in the WAC in 2009-10.
For Thompson, who ranks No. 1 in Fresno State history in career steals, No. 3 in assists and No. 13 in scoring, this is the fourth-straight season she has garnered all-conference accolades of some sort. She was named to the WAC All-Freshman team in 2010-11, was a second-team All-WAC selection in 2011-12 and was voted to the 2012-13 Mountain West third-team.
Her nod on the Mountain West All-Defensive team marks her second selection to an all-defensive team, along with her nod as a sophomore in the WAC.
For Farley, this is the first time in her career that she has been selected to an all-conference team. She led the Bulldogs in scoring during conference play this year, putting in 15.2 points per game that ranked No. 5 in the Mountain West.
Farley was a two-time Mountain West Player of the Week selection, most recently receiving this week's award that was announced on Sunday following her 31-point performance in Friday's win over San Jose State. She is one of six players in the conference this year that has registered a 30-point game.
Fresno State travels to Las Vegas, Nev. on Sunday for the 2014 Reese's Mountain West Championships, where the Bulldogs will play on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. against the winner of the San Jose State-UNLV contest that is being played on Monday.
