FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's basketball head coach Jaime White announced Monday that she has hired Laura Dinkins to her staff as an assistant coach.

Dinkins, who is originally from Rialto, Calif., comes to Fresno State after serving two seasons as an assistant coach for the Idaho State women's basketball team.

"I am so excited to add Laura Dinkins to our basketball family," White said. "Laura is an up and coming coach that will be able to hit the ground running for the Bulldogs. With her ties to California and experience at the Division I level she will be able to use her expertise with workouts and recruiting immediately."

At ISU, she coached four players that earned All-Big Sky honors and 11 student-athletes that were named to the Big Sky All-Academic team in her two seasons. In her first year there, Dinkins helped guide the Bengals to an 18-13 season and into the postseason with a WNIT appearance.

"I am thankful to be a part of such a successful basketball program at Fresno State," Dinkins said. "I am excited for the opportunity to work under head coach Jaime White with the experience, leadership and success she will bring to the program. Being from Southern California and now a part of the Fresno State family is an ideal fit."

Prior to coaching at ISU, Dinkins spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Northern Arizona, her alma mater.

She had a very successful playing career at NAU (2003-08) and in professional basketball over in Europe.

At NAU, Dinkins was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year her junior season and was selected second-team all-conference as a senior. She is second all-time at NAU with 714 career rebounds and second for rebounds in a single-season with 252 as a senior in 2007-08. She also played a program record 1,144 minutes during the 2007-08 season.

She was a member of the 2005-06 team that won NAU's first Big Sky Championship, earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Dinkins played two seasons of professional basketball in Europe after graduating from NAU. She played in Germany for the Chem Cats, helping the team earn a Division II Championship, and also played a season in The Netherlands for the Perik Jumpers.

Dinkins is originally from Rialto, Calif. She earned her undergraduate degree in health sciences from Northern Arizona in 2008.
