Wiggins Reveals 2011-12 Schedule

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's basketball team is coming off their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and head coach Adrian Wiggins announced that the Bulldogs will play three opponents from last year's field of 64.
"We have a big schedule in front of us that will help prepare us for a WAC Championship," said Wiggins. "Our main goal was to put together a schedule that will help prepare us for the WAC. We have a lot of new players and we are excited to showcase them in front of our fans."
Wiggins released the 2011-12 women's basketball schedule on Tuesday afternoon with the 'Dogs slated to play 30 games and 14 games in the Save Mart Center. Fresno State faces three teams from the Pac-12, a Mountain West team and a Big 12 school.
"We are excited about playing Pac-12 and Big 12 competition," said Wiggins. "We are also excited to continue some of our in-state rivalries with other universities in our region and in California."
Some of the big time opponents headed to Fresno, Calif. this season is Oregon, Stanford and Oklahoma. The Cardinal made it to the Final Four of last year's NCAA Tournament, while the Sooners appeared in the Sweet 16 round.
The Bulldogs play a total of 16 non-conference games, including two games at the Southern Methodist Tournament in Dallas, Texas over Thanksgiving weekend. In 2011, the 'Dogs were 11-6 in non-conference games and 25-8 overall.
The Bulldogs begin their battle to defend their Western Athletic Conference title in January against Nevada at the Save Mart Center. Fresno State faces all WAC foes twice, before heading to the conference tournament March 7-12 in Las Vegas. The winner of the tournament earns an automatic berth to the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
