Series Record: Cal State Fullerton leads 19-11
The Fresno State women's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season and begins a four-game road trip that will carry the Bulldogs through the end of November when the 'Dogs travel to Cal State Fullerton for Saturday's game.
Tip-off is set for noon PT from Titan Gym, where the Bulldogs have not played in since 2006 when Cal State Fullerton defeated Fresno State 61-56. That 2006 game was the last in the series between the Bulldogs and Titans and the 'Dogs won the previous six matchups between the schools before falling in `06. Cal State Fullerton leads the overall series 19-11.
Fresno State enters the game with a 1-1 record, having defeated UC Merced in its season opener on Nov. 8 and falling to Southern California on Nov. 10.
Senior guard Bree Farley led the 'Dogs in the first two games, scoring 16 points in each of the first two contests of the season.
The Bulldogs shot 42 percent and had 22 assists on 29 made field goals in the season-opening 74-50 win over UC Merced, but was cold from the field against UCS in a nine-point loss. Fresno State shot just 31.7 percent against the Trojans and look to rebound from its first loss of the season.
Fresno State, which ranked third in the nation last year with 12.9 steals per game, has 17 steals and forced 32 turnovers in its first two games this season. The Bulldog defense has held opponents to a 31.7 percent clip shooting the ball early on this year.
Fresno State has won five true road games in a row, obviously dating back to last season. The 'Dogs were 9-6 on the road last year.
► Senior guard Bree Farley scored in double-digits just twice last season and has only four times in her first three years in the program. So far this year, she has scored 16 points in both games and has shot 52.2 percent from the field.
► With eight steals in her first two games this year, senior guard Taylor Thompson has moved into second place for the most steals in school history and needs 31 more steals to break the school record of 275 that Rosie Moult set last season.
► This will be the 31st all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and Titans, but first since Nov. 28, 2006. Fresno State is 4-12 all-time when playing at Cal State Fullerton.
► Junior forward Alex Sheedy is coming off her first double-double of the season, as she had 12 rebounds and 10 points against USC last Sunday. It was her third career double-double.
