    FRESNO, Calif. - On the third day of Christmas Timeout brought the Red Wave three-pointers from the women's basketball team. Since Adrian Wiggins became head coach, the Bulldogs have become nationally recognized for their three-point shooting.

    The Bulldogs have hit 10 3-pointers or more in 35 games dating back to the 2007-08 season and they are 28-7 during that stretch. Last year the `Dogs hit a school and WAC record 16 against TCU and they tied that record in Dec. 8's win over Sacramento State.

    Jaleesa Ross has hit 221 3-pointers in her two plus seasons as a Bulldog. The 221 3-pointers ranks her third on the school's career Top 10 list for 3-pointers made. She needs two 3-pointers to pass Staci Oddo (1993-96) and move into second place.

    Her 95 3-point¬ers made last season is a new Fresno State single season record, breaking the previous mark of 89, set by Ross last year and Lindsay Logan in 2000-01. The 95 3-pointers ranks Ross is fifth on the single season Top 10 list in the WAC for most 3-pointers made in a year.

    The Bulldogs defeated Sacramento State 105-57 on Dec. 8. The team tied the school and WAC record for 3-pointers made with 16 and set a home court record for assists with 30. The 105 points scored tied the school record for the fifth most points in a game. The 1993 and the 1986 team also scored 105 points.

    Prior to the start of Saturday's game against UNLV, the Bulldogs were fourth in the country in 3-pointers made per game, trailing Iowa State's 11.0 a game. Jaleesa Ross is tied for fifth in the country in 3-pointers made a game at 3.7.

    The Fresno State women's basketball team has hit a 3-pointer 74 straight games. The last time the Bulldogs did not make a 3-pointer in a game was March 3, 2007 when the Dogs were 0-9 in a 71-60 home win over Utah State.

     

     

    Last year's Fresno State team hit a school and WAC record 309 3-pointers. The mark was also the second most 3-pointers made in NCAA history. The NCAA record is 326 set by Villanova in 2008. Fresno State also set an NCAA record for 3-pointers attempted last year with 893. The previous record was 858 set by Villanova in 2008.
