71 Bulldogs Named 2012-13 MW Scholar Athletes

A total of 71 Fresno State student-athletes were honored as part of a league-record 623 Mountain West scholar athletes.

The Fresno State equestrian team rode against the No. 7 Baylor Bears Friday morning in Waco, Texas.

2015 (Junior): Named to the Bevel Saddlery Academic first-team for competing in a minimum of 70 percent of the meets while earning a cumulative GPA of 3.5 ... competed in a Red vs. Blue home opening scrimmage in January, tying with a 72.5 on the western side ... helped Fresno State to a 7-0 shutout over Minnesota, Crookston in the western category, defeating her opponent 67.5-65.5 ... saw action against No. 4 Kansas State, as the `Dogs upset the Wildcats 12-8, with a score of 72-69 on the western side ... competed against No. 3 South Carolina during the home opener on Nov. 7, earning a point for the `Dogs with a 68 in horsemanship.

2014 (Sophomore): Earned Most Outstanding Player for Horsemanship, and Most Unflappable (composed) for her Western rides at the season's end ... competed against No. 9 Texas Christian University in the first round of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championship ... named Most Outstanding Player for Horsemanship, helping Fresno State to a sweep over SMU and No. 2 Baylor at home ... earned a win over Sacred Hear on the Western side ... claimed a point for the `Dogs against No. 2 Auburn in Western.

2013 (Freshman): Competed in five Horsemanship regular season competitions ... travelled and competed at the NCEA National Championships in Waco, Texas ... recorded a season-high score of 76 against Baylor ... earned her first win as a Bulldog against New Mexico State ... competed at the NCEA National Championships in Waco ... earned her first varsity letter ... was named "Rookie of the Year" by her teammates.

High School: President of the Idaho Quarter Horse Youth Association ... finalist at AQHYA World Championships in 2010 and 2011 ... finished Top 10 and Top 5 in 2012 at the AQHYA World Championships.

Personal: Parents are Kelli and Steve Elliott ... has two older brothers Justin, 22, and Tucker, 19 ... hobbies include riding her horse, camping and spending time with family and friends ... biggest athletic thrill is when she comes out of the ring knowing she had a good pattern ... admires her horse trainer the most because of her dedication to the sport as well as her perseverance ... chose to attend Fresno State because she loved the campus, the team and it was the closest school to home.
