The Fresno State equestrian team hosted its final home competition of the 2011-12 season Saturday with a Red and Blue team scrimmage.


'Dogs Pick Up Five MVPs On Day One

On Day one of Best in the West Fresno State defeated TCU and finished tied with UTM after two events.


'Dogs Show Well At Scrimmage

The Fresno State equestrian team kicked off the 2012 season with a Red vs. Blue team scrimmage at the Student Horse Center where sophomore Hillary West earned two MVP honors.

Fresno State: 2011-12 (Senior): Competed in seven Equitation on the Flat events and seven Equitation over Fences events ... earned four wins in Equitation on the Flat ... recorded an event high score of 84 on the Flat ... earned two wins in Equitation on the Flat ... picked up an MVP honor against Miami of Ohio with a score of 83 ... competed at the NCEA National Championships and earned her second varsity letter.

2010-11 (Junior): Competed in three Equitation over Fences events and nine Equitation on the Flat events ... earned MVP honors against SMU with a score of 81 in her first competition in Equitation over Fences and was named MVP against New Mexico State with a score of 78 in Equitation on the Flat.

2009-10 (Sophomore): Competed in five Equitation on the Flat events earning two wins against New Mexico State and University South Carolina ... earned MVP honors in the season opening event against New Mexico State with a score of 87... maintained an average competition score of 79 ... also competed in Western Horsemanship at two competitions.

2008-09 (Freshman): Earned a score of 85 at first travel competition against SMU in 2009 ... earned a victory over South Dakota State with a score of 58 in the Equitation of the Flat ... competed in two events this season.

Rio American HS: Won multiple show champion awards, including Novice Champion in her first "A" rated show ... was the Reserve World Champion in the Youth Equitation over Fences at the 2008 Pinto World Championship and World Champion in both the Youth and Open Jumper events ... a two-year participant in cheerleading and one in song-leading ... captain of the song team.

Personal: Born March 15, 1990 in Sacramento, Calif. ... parents are Marcia and Ted Roworth ... has one older brother, Philip ... favorite athlete is her horse Bogie because she has never stopped learning from him ... biggest athletic thrill is riding her trainer's horse, Wronski, in a jump-off ... most admires her first trainer's mother Beth Henning for staying strong and pushing her to her limits ... chose to attend Fresno State because it is close to home.
