FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State equestrian team hosted its first double header of the season as they faced No. 2 Auburn and No. 6 Kansas State on Friday. The 'Dogs were neck-and-neck with the Auburn Tigers, but fell short 7-8 in a close match. In the afternoon match the Bulldogs fell to the Kansas State Wildcats 12-4.

In the morning match against Auburn, Bulldogs Macy Wilson and Ciara Kozlowski led the way each picking up a Most Outstanding Player (MOP) honor. Wilson's MOP came in Equitation on the Flat where she scored a 75, defeating her Auburn opponent by 20 points.

Kozlowski's MOP came in Reining with her score of 69.5, as the Bulldogs swept the Tigers in this event. Fresno State's Lauren Crivelli (70), Sydney Coletti (70) and Kirsten McKillop (64.5) all earned their points.

In Horsemanship Crivelli picked up her second point against Auburn with a score of 72. Also picking up two wins in the morning match was senior Kimberly HewsonBudnik who scored a 66 in Equitation on the Flat and a 77 in Equitation over Fences.

In the afternoon match, Fresno State faced No. 6 Kansas State and fell 12-4 with a raw score total of 1,118.5-1,137.

In the English events, the scores were very close. The Bulldogs beat the Wildcats 292-291 in the raw score total of Equitation on the Flat and were only down by two points in Equitation over Fences 292-294. Overall the Bulldogs scored a 584 to the Wildcats 585.

On the Flat Macy Wilson earned her point with a score of 77 and over Fences Dayle Fischer scored a 76 winning her point as well.

In the Western events, Bulldogs Horsemanship team scored a 280 to the Wildcats 281. Fresno State's Shauna Woodward scored a 70 and earned a point for the team. In Reining Fresno State scored a 254.5 and the Wildcats had a 271, with Sydney Coletti leading they was with her point and score of 64.5.

"I think as a team we rode really fell and put up some really strong scores against both teams today," said Coletti. "We are really motivated to ride well for each other and the team as a whole, so it's exciting when any of us win a point. We are always proud of each other."

Up next, the Bulldogs will compete against TCU on February 15 and Oklahoma State on February 16 both in Fort Worth, Texas. Prior to that senior Kimberly HewsonBudnik will compete in Equitation over Fences at the Winter Equestrian Festival on February 8 in Wellington, Fla.
